Had such a gooood time in Wisconsin. I went on a date with a cute boy named Aaron who plays the sax. Got to vibe and kick it with old and new friends. Saw a breakdance competition and clubbed with bboys til 5am afterwards, had some yummy tea and jam sessions with poet friends. Lots of heart to hearts. Shared a free banana cupcake. Sat by Lake Michigan and listened to choir boys sing a Backstreet...

I can’t believe it’s been 11 days already. I leave Georgia to go to Wisconsin tomorrow. One thing I’ve learned is that traveling is super expensive. She always comes with me to the airport. I guess I was relying on her being here and it made...

I just spoke to my grandmother and father in Texas. They’re so glad that I’m coming. They’re excited to finally meet me and spoke about all of the graduations and birthday parties they want to bring me to. I mentioned that I look different from the last picture they’ve seen of me. Before I had a shoulder length bob. Now I have a fro. My grandmother told me not to cut my...

How do you get over
the feeling of being too honest in your work when you’re an artist? Is there ever an end to the discomfort or are you always going to feel that way when you’re pushing your boundaries?
